Vocabulary practice that runs on the reading students already do.
rootscroll teaches SAT® and GRE® words inside the articles, videos and posts students read anyway, and gives counselors one view of how a whole caseload is doing on the tests that matter.
A caseload view built around test scores, not word lists.
Class & family is the counselor's view in rootscroll. It leads with Reading and Writing growth across each student's testing timeline, with the vocabulary work underneath it. Pick a caseload size below; everything on it is computed live.
PSAT to SAT growth.
College Board reports the PSAT on the SAT’s scale, so a student’s path from PSAT to SAT can be read on one line. It isn’t one-to-one, and we label it that way: a PSAT score is a starting point, not a prediction.
Next actions, not a leaderboard.
Students grouped by what to do next: book a retest, register for a first SAT, no score on file, testing gone quiet, studying but flat.
Words learned between sittings.
How many words each student moved to “got it” between two tests, next to what their score did. It shows an association in your caseload, never a promise.
Nothing new to assign.
Students keep reading what they read. rootscroll swaps in harder words, shows the root inside each one, and brings each word back for two minutes of review a day. Rating a root once marks it in every word that carries it.
Chrome and iPhone.
The Chrome extension on school laptops, the Safari extension and the app on phones. One account follows the student.
SAT or GRE.
SAT covers every level. GRE is the Hard tier of the same list, not a separate one.
Link a student in one code.
You create the student by name and hand them a code. The name on your roster stays the one you gave it.
What we can and can't see.
Words, not pages.
rootscroll records which words a student met and how they rated them. It does not keep the pages they visited.
Your caseload only.
Every counselor view is limited, at the database, to the students linked to that counselor.
No ads, nothing sold.

A pilot, with the results published either way.
We're running a classroom pilot with a matched comparison group, and we'll publish what we find whether or not it flatters us. Nobody can honestly promise a score, and we won't.
